Barcelona - Day 3

What does a girl that goes to bed at sun raise do (other than wake up with some type of yucky cold)? Get up for the free breakfast then go back to sleep for an hour, go to the beach, lay in the sun, eat too much paella, lay on the beach again, siesta, give in and go to Starbucks and go to bed super early. That pretty much sum it up. Unfortunately, the sore throat that was developing the day before made a full appearance the next morning. Luckily we had a relaxing day planned. We got to the beach around 1pm and it was perfect! Hot with a breeze. (Don't worry I put on a ton of sunscreen.)

This is one of the few appropriate pictures where all the woman seem to be wearing tops. I'm just glad the whole topless thing is not normal in the states. Regardless, we had such a good time relaxing on the beautiful beach.

It was finally rolling around to an appropriate Barcelona lunch time so we set out with one thing on our mind: paella. And we found it. We were lured in to Il Ray de la Gamba by the discount on sangria

and free starters of ham.

Paige has been talking about paella all day everyday since we got here and she was talking a big game about how much she wanted and specified she wanted it "enorme."

BAM and there were three of those. However, our little Maryland girl, Arin, was unimpressed by the amount of meat they possessed. They originally said they'd give us lemoncello at the end of the meal, but some how we ended up with a shot of Bailey's.

Pardon the mess... but I have a feeling that they wanted to get rid of their Bailey's because I wouldn't naturally pair it with seafood or the afternoon? Overall it was amazing I was satisfied and full. We returned to the beach feeling like beached whales. We met up with Arin's friend Alex and it was 7pm before we knew it. I was definitely starting to feel a little worse and achy as the day was going on, but on the metro back I realized my forehead was significantly hotter than everyone else's. I definitely got a good amount of sun, but I'm pretty sure I had a fever too. When I got back I used the wifi and decided I needed to take a cold shower and take some Advil. It was the most amazing feeling and I felt so much better when I got out, but still genuinely under the weather. I decided I needed a little comfort food, well mainly drink, and gave in and went to Starbucks for a venti unsweetened passion ice tea. I was just getting tired of the super small drink sizes here! The food sizes have been great because I haven't been over eating but drinks have been painfully small. I also grabbed a salad and some fruit juice. The girls went out and I passed out by 11pm.
