Travel Day - Barcelona to Venice

It's always sad to leave a city, especially when it has an awesome hostel, free breakfast and a beach.
You'd be bummed too, EXCEPT we found this hostel's weakness... No AC. We woke up sweating and it helped us get the move on to get out of there. We used the last of our metro passes to get the airport nice and on time. We were actually a little early and had time to go shopping at ZARA. Well I didn't, but it was fate for Magdalena who regretted passing up on a killer green blazer last time we were in ZARA and there it was at the airport! After that we decided to pick up some food, parents please don't disown me, I haven't had McDonalds since I was under the age of 10 and well.... It happened.
I'm not going to lie, it was better than I expected. The flight wasn't too bad either because I had a window seat in the exit row so tons of leg room and a beautiful view of the islands and coast below.
Our most important job was getting to the train station to reserve all of our trains for the rest of the trip! Luckily it was no problem and we only had to pay 10 euro for all 5 train trips!! Finally this eurail pass came in handy! I also have to say last time I was in Venice (in 8th grade) it must have been cloudy because I don't remember it being so gorgeous!
We were all excited that the most convenient and lowest cost option was by taking a water shuttle to S. Marco Plaza!
I was also impressed I was still able to recognize the square from a far! Although   I have to say I was sure this statue was a new addition...
Interesting right? Luckily it was all the way across the water from the plaza. Our hotel is literally so central is crazy! And it was another great find!! Simple, cleans and I get to snuggle up with Paige in our big bed. Luckily we didn't have to pay for wifi (he said because we have four people?), but it only works in one bedroom (aka a difference of 5 feet or less). We were hungry and ready to dive into pasta although I have to say the hunger must have made us make rash decisions because our first dinner was a major disappointment. We should have searched around, but we didn't. We started with a salad then a pasta course
And a funky glass of wine (just not very fresh). Luckily we made up for it by getting gelato after!!
I got a super luxurious dark chocolate and a perfectly salty pistachio. It was a much better end to the first night in Venice!
